The answer

Counted by independent, verified deployment sites, the Walker S2 from Shenzhen-based UBTech Robotics is the most-deployed humanoid robot on the planet as of August 2026. Independent site count in the mid-teens across at least seven distinct customers: Foxconn (Zhengzhou and one further "smart factory" line), BYD (Shenzhen assembly plus a second BYD line), NIO (Advanced Manufacturing Center), Geely (EV factory), FAW-Volkswagen (Qingdao), Audi-FAW (Changchun), Texas Instruments (Sherman, TX), Airbus (Hamburg), and SF Express. No other humanoid comes close on breadth of paying customers running units on a real production line.

The comparison that most people expect, Optimus vs. Figure vs. Digit, is not what the deployment ledger actually shows. Optimus is still confined to Tesla-owned real estate. Figure retired its 02 units from BMW Spartanburg and only in mid-2026 stood a small number of 03 units at Catalyst Brands in Reno. Digit is genuinely commercial and second on this list, but Agility's site count is concentrated in a handful of large logistics footprints, not a dozen automakers. The Chinese auto and electronics supply chain is where "many customers, many sites" actually happened first.

Runner-up: Agility Digit (v4 + v5 combined)

Agility Robotics's Digit is the strongest Western answer and finishes second on any honest count. Adding the older Digit v4 fleet to the newer Digit v5, Agility has verified sites at Amazon fulfillment (the Spanx pilot inside a GXO Logistics building in Flowery Branch, Georgia, was the first commercial deployment of a humanoid inside a customer's warehouse, disclosed by GXO in a signed multi-year RaaS contract in June 2024), Schaeffler (v4 in Germany, v5 in Cheraw, South Carolina), Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada in Cambridge and Woodstock, Ontario, MercadoLibre-linked work out of San Antonio, and Agility's own Salem, Oregon and Fremont, California facilities.

That is roughly nine to ten independent sites, spread across warehouse, automotive, and industrial bearings. Digit is also the only Western humanoid that has been operated by a customer under a signed RaaS (Robot-as-a-Service) contract for more than a year (GXO signed in June 2024, per GXO's own press release), which matters more than raw site count if you weight by durability. But S2 is simply in more buildings.

Runner-up: Unitree G1

Unitree Robotics's G1, the $16,000 humanoid Unitree started selling in mid-2024 (list price from Unitree's own store), lands third on the site count and would arguably lead on installed units if we counted units instead of sites. Verified sites include Tokyo Haneda Airport (a Japan Airlines pilot disclosed by the airline in May 2026), Tsukuba hospital pilots in Ibaraki, an AGT performance deployment in Los Angeles, a Leehom Wang concert tour, Unitree's own Hangzhou and Chongqing lines, MIT CSAIL, and Geely and BYD factories in Zhejiang and Shenzhen. Ten sites, but concentrated in performance, research, and Unitree's own facilities: a real deployment ledger, but weighted toward showcase venues rather than production floors with dedicated customer capex.

Two caveats matter here. First, many "Unitree in a factory" clips are demonstration visits rather than continuously operating cells; the ones counted above are the ones with independent operator confirmation. Second, unit counts almost certainly favor Unitree, likely in the low four figures shipped, given the price and consumer availability.

If the question were "which humanoid has shipped the most units?" G1 is a plausible answer. The question here is "most-deployed," and that lands on Walker S2 by verified worksite.

Runner-up: Apptronik Apollo

Apptronik's Apollo has half a dozen verified sites: Mercedes-Benz' Digital Factory Campus in Berlin (announced March 2025, operational per Mercedes press), a second Mercedes site in Kecskemét, Hungary, Charité in Berlin, Jabil's US manufacturing pilot (announced by Jabil in February 2025), a GXO Distribution Center in the US, and Apptronik's own Austin facility. That's a strong customer roster on paper (Mercedes, Jabil, GXO all disclosed via primary IR), but the current-generation Apollo is a superseded model as Apollo 2 transitions in; site count sits around six.

Runner-up: Figure 03

Figure AI's Figure 03 took the marketing spotlight in early 2026 with the BMW Spartanburg return and the Catalyst Brands Reno logistics center (disclosed by Figure with a Catalyst-signed contract in May 2026), but the ledger of independent customer sites still runs to two named venues on the 03: BMW Spartanburg and Catalyst Brands Reno. The Figure 02 pilots at BMW Spartanburg ended when 03 arrived; that transition is why the 02 rows show "ended" and the 03 rows show "operational" at the same plant. Figure's Brookfield Properties commercial-real-estate deal and its Reno "BotQ" factory expansion are talked about in every quarterly investor letter; measured by robots-in-someone-else's-building today, though, it is early.

Runner-up: UBTech Walker S1

Worth naming even though it is not the leader: the older Walker S1 still has verified pilots at Zeekr (Ningbo), BYD (Shenzhen), and NIO (Hefei) that pre-date S2. Counted together, UBTech's Walker line is at roughly 15 independent sites across S1 + S2, which is why UBTech's Hong Kong Stock Exchange interim disclosures (UBTech is publicly listed as 9880.HK; see its H1 2026 interim report) present humanoid orders as the fastest-growing revenue line even though the reported RMB numbers are still modest.

What "beats" Walker S2 but doesn't count, and why

Tesla Optimus. Elon Musk has repeatedly said Optimus units are working in Tesla factories, and the Tesla Optimus has verified pilots at Giga Texas, Fremont, and an announced but not-yet-operational placement at a Hyundai facility in South Korea. Every operational Optimus site is Tesla-owned. That is not "deployment" in the sense any other humanoid on this list is being counted; it is on-campus development. Same-building customer counts, not press-release counts, are what separates a real deployment from a demonstration, and Optimus has none of the former outside Tesla. Second: Tesla's price for Optimus is a manufacturer-target range ($20,000 to $30,000 per Musk on the Q4 2024 earnings call), not a published purchase price by any external buyer; the price fence around "verified" pricing applies here too.

Boston Dynamics Atlas. The new electric Atlas is running pilot work inside a Hyundai plant, but Boston Dynamics has been careful to describe those units as engineering pilots owned by Boston Dynamics, not delivered fleet. Site count in the "customer independently operating" sense is one and it is Hyundai (Boston Dynamics' parent). It doesn't beat Walker S2; it beats a lot of the smaller entrants.

Xiaomi CyberOne, XPeng Iron, Fourier GR-2, Booster T2, LimX, Kepler. All are real humanoids, all have appeared in factory footage, but verified deployments to independent operators are one or zero for each so far.

Digit v5 alone. If you exclude Agility's older v4 fleet as retired, v5 by itself lands at four confirmed sites and is behind Apollo. This is exactly why "which model version" versus "which product line" matters when reading these tallies. The Walker S2 answer holds either way.

Gotchas

"Deployed" is a fuzzy word and this page uses one strict meaning. A humanoid counts if there is a named, independent operator running at least one unit at a named site with a public source, and the pilot is not already reported as ended. Trade-show visits, one-off demos, and units running only inside the manufacturer's own R&D lab do not count; that is the rule that pulls Optimus out of the top spot and puts Walker S2 in it. If you count "units in the field regardless of site distinctness," the ranking would swing toward Unitree G1 on unit volume and Optimus on the manufacturer's own headcount claims (Musk cited "several thousand" for 2025 in the Q1 earnings call, but no external corroboration exists).

Pilots dominate. Signed multi-year RaaS contracts are rare. The only Western humanoid deployments with public, signed multi-year commercial contracts are Digit at GXO (2024, RaaS structure disclosed) and Digit at Schaeffler (2025). Everything Figure, Apptronik, and UBTech have disclosed is structured as a pilot or an "operational" installation of unknown contract length. Counting pilots is the honest thing to do at this maturity stage; it also means the leaderboard is volatile quarter to quarter.

The China site count is credible but not fully auditable. UBTech's factory placements at BYD, NIO, Geely, FAW-VW, Foxconn, and Audi-FAW are sourced from UBTech's own H1 2026 interim report to HKEX and from CCTV / Xinhua factory footage. Each of those is a real primary source. What is genuinely hard to independently verify from outside China is how many units are at each site and what fraction of the shift they actually work; the site count is real, the "utilization" number is not something anyone has published cleanly. If you know a customer disputes a placement on this list, that is exactly the kind of correction worth filing.

"Humanoid" excludes some large real fleets by design. Digit is a humanoid; the Amazon Robotics fleet inside Amazon warehouses (Proteus, Hercules, Pegasus, Sequoia) is not, and it dwarfs every humanoid on Earth by unit count. Similarly, the Waymo fifth-generation robotaxi fleet is a much larger deployment of an autonomous machine than any humanoid, but it is not one. The form factor filter is doing real work in the answer to this question; without it, the numeric leader is Amazon's fulfillment fleet by four or five orders of magnitude.

Version turnover erases site counts fast. Figure retiring the 02 at BMW Spartanburg in favor of the 03 is a good thing for capability, but on a "current model site count" it zeroes out the older number. Apptronik moving from Apollo to Apollo 2 will do the same. This is why the Walker S2 lead is measured with S1 and S2 broken out separately and why the Digit runner-up is honest about combining v4 and v5. Any leaderboard that stitches version generations together silently is easy to game.

Bottom line

Walker S2 is the most-deployed humanoid by independent verified worksite as of August 2026, roughly 13 sites, on the strength of a Chinese auto-and-electronics supply chain that agreed to run pilots earlier and in more places than any Western customer. Digit is the strongest Western answer at roughly nine to ten sites and the only humanoid with a signed multi-year customer RaaS contract of any material duration.

Unitree G1 leads on installed units and trails only slightly on site count, but leans research and performance. Everything else, Optimus included, is currently one to six sites of real customer deployment, and Optimus specifically is zero customer sites once you subtract Tesla's own buildings.
