Sumitomo Metal Mining provided up to 340 million USD in funding for the Cote Gold Project in Ontario acquiring an approximate 10 percent interest from IAMGOLD. IAMGOLD later repurchased the 9.7 percent stake in 2024 returning to its full 70 percent interest.
