EdgeConneX is a Herndon, Virginia based data center operator founded in 2009 that built its business on "hyperlocal" edge sites in secondary markets before scaling up alongside cloud and AI demand. It now operates or has under development more than 90 data centers across roughly 60 markets in 20+ countries on four continents, with regional headquarters in Amsterdam and Singapore in addition to Northern Virginia.\n\nThe company was acquired in 2020 by EQT Infrastructure, the Swedish sponsor's flagship infrastructure fund, which supplied the equity for a shift from small edge nodes toward large build-to-suit campuses for hyperscale and AI customers. Public customer references include NVIDIA, Oracle, Google and Microsoft Azure, and EQT-era expansion has included the AdaniConneX joint venture in India, a strategic investment in China's Chayora, and new market entries in Barcelona, Brussels, Israel, Indonesia and Japan.\n\nRecent activity has centered on very large campus commitments, including a multi-billion-euro Italian expansion program and additional projects in the Nordics and Latin America aimed at AI training and inference workloads.
