The RT6 is a Chinese commercial-at-scale anchor of the robotaxi cluster, alongside Pony AI and WeRide: the volume-and-cost story (purpose-built, self-manufactured, sub-$30K build) that contrasts with the US operators.
It is genuinely commercial and self-manufactured: Baidu builds the RT6 itself (no third-party automaker) at roughly $28,600 per vehicle and runs it in Apollo Go's fully-driverless ride-hailing.

This is a robotaxi service vehicle, not a consumer product. Baidu manufactures the RT6 itself (no third-party automaker) and runs it in Apollo Go's fully-driverless commercial ride-hailing across Chinese cities and some international markets.

Real-world status

Baidu's Apollo RT6 is the company's sixth-generation autonomous robotaxi: a purpose-built battery-electric vehicle (a cross between an SUV and a minivan, with a detachable steering wheel) on Baidu's Apollo Galaxy / Xinghe self-driving platform, powering the Apollo Go fully-driverless commercial ride-hailing service. It is one of the Chinese commercial-at-scale anchors of DEPLOY's robotaxi cluster.

Baidu manufactures it without relying on a third-party automaker at roughly 204,600 RMB (about $28,600) per vehicle, about half the cost of the prior generation. The verified-vs-claimed point: that figure is a verified per-vehicle build cost from Baidu's disclosures, not a consumer price: you ride an Apollo Go robotaxi, you do not buy an RT6.
