Chinese conglomerate founded in 1995 by Wang Chuanfu; the world's largest EV maker (overtook [Tesla](/companies/tesla) in BEV sales in 2025) and a major battery (the LFP 'Blade Battery'), electronics, and rail manufacturer, listed on the Hong Kong (1211) and Shenzhen (002594) exchanges. In the robotics supply chain, BYD is the vehicle build/manufacturing partner for Nuro's third-generation R3 autonomous delivery vehicle (assembled at BYD's Lancaster, US plant); the planned mass-production ramp was later paused.

Mountain View, CA-based autonomous vehicle company founded in 2016 by Jiajun Zhu and Dave Ferguson (both ex-[Google](/companies/google) self-driving car project). Nuro developed custom autonomous delivery vehicles (R2, R3) and became the first company to receive an NHTSA exemption for a vehicle without human controls.
