Andromeda Surgical is a South San Francisco-based startup building autonomous AI-guided surgical robots, founded in 2023 by Nick Damiano (CEO) and Kartik Tiwari (CTO) through [Y combinator](/companies/y-combinator)'s Summer 2023 batch. The company's software-first platform uses off-the-shelf robotic arms paired with proprietary AI-driven localization and navigation to augment surgeons during natural orifice procedures, starting with HoLEP (holmium laser enucleation of the prostate). Andromeda completed the world's first robotic-assisted HoLEP procedure in 2024 and is running the ASTRA clinical trial, with partnerships including Richard Wolf and Quanta System.
