# Lucid x Nuro x Uber Robotaxi: partnership

Lucid, Nuro, and Uber are building a robotaxi service exclusive to the Uber platform: Lucid Gravity (and later Midsize) vehicles with Nuro Driver L4 autonomy, owned/operated by Uber or its fleet partners. Announced 17 Jul 2025 with an aim of 20,000+ Lucid vehicles over six years. Expanded 14 Apr 2026 to at least 35,000 Lucid vehicles and $500M total Uber equity in Lucid. Bay Area commercial launch targeted later in 2026; Houston named second market for mid-2027. Engineering fleet nearly 100 vehicles across Bay Area and Houston; production-validation Gravity deliveries underway from Lucid's Arizona operations (Coolidge cited on Lucid's Q2 2026 call). Nuro holds CA DMV driverless testing authorization for Lucid Gravity and a CPUC drivered pilot for passengers with a safety driver; paid driverless deployment permits are not yet in hand per Nuro (May 2026).
